Jennifer Grieves earned the rank of Lieutenant Colonel during her nearly four-decade career in the US Marine Corps. Among her several assignments, she served as commander of Marine One, responsible for flying the president and other senior officials, the first woman ever selected for this prestigious assignment. Jennifer Grieves retired from the Corps in 2018 and entered civilian life; in her leisure time, she enjoys reading, camping, Broadway shows, and Peloton workouts.
Peloton is a recreation equipment manufacturer most famous for its stationary bicycles and treadmills equipped with large touchscreens, set to receive a broad range of live or pre-recorded video training sessions. The company also offers a stand-alone workout app that’s compatible with Android, iOS, and most smart televisions, which offers access to the same bike and treadmill content as well as boot camp and strength training classes, cardio workouts, and outdoor running. The app provides an estimate of calories burned at the end of each workout based on the participant’s height and weight.
A popular feature of the Peloton app is its live classes. The app presents a list of live sessions from which participants pick and choose their desired classes in advance. Trainers generally lead sessions from a gym, with participants able to join in remotely. Participants can see who else is in the class, a feature that expands to a leaderboard when used with the Peloton bike or treadmill. Some people have formed friendships and Facebook pages based on these groups.
